6 Mandatory Activities That The First Hand Washing

 
Wash hands with soap (CPTS) is a simple way to prevent various diseases especially those associated with respiratory and gastrointestinal tract. There are at least six important time where people should wash their hands with soap.

"In healthcare, the technical term is 'prevention is better than cure'. Activities Handwashing (HWWS) is one form of 'prevention' against various diseases, especially infectious diseases of gastrointestinal and respiratory tract," explains Prof. Dr. Tjandra Yoga Aditama, MPH, Director General of Disease Control and Environmental Health Kemkes, in the event of public health campaigns on Handwashing (HWWS) to the fourth World, as a release received detikHealth, Monday (10/10/2011).

Prof. Tjandra said that HWWS a simple behavior had an incredible impact, because it prevents many diseases. Wash hands with soap can reduce cases of diarrhea by 47 percent, ARI (Acute Respiratory Infection) and avian influenza to 50 percent, and is recommended for the prevention of H1N1 flu.

According to Prof. Tjandra, the following six critical point where CPTS should be done:
  1. Before handling food
  2. Before meals
  3. After Chapter (bowel movements)
  4. Before taking care of babies and breastfeeding
  5. After cleaning a child
  6. After handling animals.


According to the Morbidity Study data Diarrhea DG & PL in 2010, generally had an increase of 11 percent HWWS behavior (in 2007) to 23 percent (in 2010). But this means that there are still 77 percent of people who have not applied HWWS Indonesia.

An increasing number of people who have done CPTS also have a direct impact on the decline in cases of diarrhea in Indonesia. Handwashing Behavior Data DG & PL in 2010 showed that the morbidity of diarrhea in all age groups tended to decrease from 423 per 1,000 inhabitants (in 2006) to 411 per 1,000 inhabitants
  (in 2010).
